Doula is a Greek word meaning "woman servant or caregiver" and is most recently
used to refer to a professionally trained woman who provides physical and emotional
support during labor. Having a doula present during labor often results in shorter
labors with a reduced need for medical intervention, as well as increased self-
confidence in the birth process for both the mother and her partner.

Passionate about pregnancy, birth and the entire process, my role as a doula is
one of calming support. By offering a constant presence, my goal is to help the
laboring woman and her partner feel empowered and, together, achieve the birth
they desire. As a DONA certified doula, I have received invaluable training and
education to support women in childbirth and have experience working with both
hospital and home birth clients.
My doula services are tailored to the specific needs of each client, however, they
generally include the following:
1st Prenatal Visit - to answer questions, discuss concerns, provide information
2nd Prenatal Visit - 1-hour prenatal massage
Birth - physical and emotional support from labor through birth, as well as help with the initial
breastfeeding experience once the baby is born
Postpartum Visit - typically occurring 3-5 days postpartum to help the clients process their birth
experience, answer questions about basic newborn care and to offer help with breastfeeding and
babywearing
